Despite being a major source of foreign exchange for the Nation, and an active participant in many of the country's commercial ventures, NRIs and PIOs are deprived of many socio-political rights enjoyed by the resident citizens of India. A need for proper representation was, therefore, keenly felt. And thus was born an organisation of the calibre of the Non-Resident Indians Welfare Association (NRIWA), with a firm social commitment, worldwide connections, ample resources, live communication channels and strong contract agreements with various groups and institutions.
